a WEEK until Austria

I am once again in Denis' room, this time with the whole band. Theo sits just across from me on his laptop writing down the lyrics and installing programs such as photoshop on his mac. We had a scare earlier, well, he did, when he thought he blew the fuse or something by plugging in the wrong wire. Mario is on his laptop designing the sticker for the band. We have agreed on it being beige. And maybe the writing could be an olive-y colour. He is also watching the Flight of the Conchords. Denis is working on the drums, since he is the man, and has now informed us that the New Song is 12 minutes long. He also referred to us all at PCs being similar to that of the big bang theory, which i think is a program?

Austria news: Low On Saturn are no longer playing the gig, so it is just us and Blynd. We have no idea why, and have sent them an e-mail but no reply. I saw pictures of where we are staying in Austria yesterday, and we are actually staying in the Posthof stadium, therefore there must be some living quarters in there somewhere. Each room has two beds with a dining room and kitchen... like a villa of sorts! Really living the high life now..

Yesterday was a 6 hour practice with much done. We worked on vocals and I now sing in more than one song! Good stuff! Mario is now hitting drums for extra percussion in a couple songs, these include a floor tom, two cymbals and a tambourine.

Theo has just shown me his design for a chick's t-shirt. It's really good! Denis said he would wear it. I said I wouldn't. He called me a fag. Then Denis said 'you have my approval, send it to the press'. The silence that followed was then punctuated by Mario's snigger, followed by the words 'epileptic dogs'.

That is all again for now! Will write back soon!
No practice tomorrow since Mario and Denis have a marketing exam on the Tuesday.

10 days until Austia

Howdy,

It is now the 23rd of March, I am back on the island and practice is a go go. I am currently in the hub of activity; Denis' room. Mario is to my right installing the required software on Theo's mac, despite the fact that Theo himself hasn't even seen the laptop yet. Denis is working on drums for Song 5 and I am writing this blog! Theo is unable to come to practices today, I don't know why. Once Denis has finished Song 5 (he is nearly at the end now) we are going to take a break and go our separate ways until about 7 o'clock tonight where we have rehearsals at Fishbone Records Studios.

Not long now until Austria; we leave on the 3rd of April. We have completed Songs 1,2,3, and Cairo. Once Song 5 is done all we have left is Song 4. Then it's just polishing bits up and rehearsals galore. They are sounding really good and we are all pleased with them and there are positive vibes all around!

We have decided to do a lot of the recording on the go now! When we go to Austria and afterwards, we will have our sound cards and laptops and record through them since the sound quality is extremely good + the drums are already there for us! Then vocals will be done back here after Austria! Then it's gonna be sent out to studios and I will go to record companies in the UK.

It's been raining most of the morning. And now its just wet, cloudy and bits of sun.
It's good to be back. I will be updating this quite a bit over the next few weeks.

Mid - March

It's now pretty much exactly middle of March! We have: Song 1, Song 2 and Cairo in the bag. All will be touched up constantly until they're perfect, but believe me, when I say they are sounding heavy!

Theo now has his laptop, hopefully required programs will be installed on it over the next few days. Song 3 is being done today, and then it's basically Song 4 and 5. It's understandable if you have no idea what songs we are talking about, we just have two left.

I leave the UK in 5 days, arriving early early early next Saturday morning, to which I am promised 5 hours of practice a day at the least and maybe an early gig before Austria on the 31st in Nicosia. This is still in the works but as soon as it is confirmed I'm sure it'll be on the Myspace so keep your ears and eyes open!

I will probably post the next blog on my way or as soon as I get to Cyprus.
For now know that everything is going great, and we have so much practice ahead of us!

Adios, Michael x
